Investment Analysis and Speculation of Amazing Spiderman Issues #271 to $310

Investment Analysis ASM 271 to 310

Silver and Bronze Age Comic-Book Investment Guide: Marvel Comics Edition [Print Replica] Kindle Edition

This guide is a product of many years of thinking and learning about comic book investments and investing decisions under uncertainty. I have used my scientific training as well to approach acquisitions of undervalued silver and bronze age comic books. My studies in horse racing, stock market analysis, and fantasy football have also contributed to my investing process and methods. This is the Marvel Comics edition containing main titles from the 1960s to 1980 ish. These data are based on early 2019 data. The DC comics edition will be forthcoming.

This post takes data from my Investing Book (see above - Buy Early and Often). I wanted to begin to do a few posts for those that have not bought the book or wanted to see a focused approach.

These 2 charts are a summary of my research on these ASM issues. I wanted to focus on issues that are not so expensive for those with limited investment budgets

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chart 1 below lists: Title/Issue/ADFs

9.4  (ADF) Average Difference Factor (Pros vs Joes)
8.0  (ADF)
6.0  (ADF)

X means no play
$ Orange strong evidence for a play
Yellow? implies a gamble play (spec plays)

Green Issue (Issue is supported at multiple grades)
Yellow Issue (Issue has good evidence for one grade but can have other grades of interest)

Amazing Spiderman 238 to 270

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary

Issues 299, and 300  lead this group and are annotated as yellow/green plays; all grades of 6 and up.
Note 301 is a 9.4 and upward play as well. Solid 3 issues to grab. Maybe able to trade for if not buy outright. Post-hype plays here? I suspect you have enough time to find a bargain before a venom reboot movie or spiderman appearance. These are the obvious plays with the Venom issues. Blue Chip plays!

Remember to use my analysis of half-grades (see the book) for a complete play!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next Level Spec Plays

Maybe 297?? This issue has a spark at 8.0. Hard to judge this issue as to why the deeper interests.

The cover is nice with Doc Ock having the black suit spidey in his tentacles.

This issue does feature the first testing of the new web-shooters with spider tracer launchers and lightweight materials.

Not sure what is the reason. Gamble play only.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deeper Level Spec Plays

Issues 281 and 285

Not sure that 297 should not be in the deeper play section as well. 281 and 285 issues do show some 9.4 action though.

Issue 281 does have an action-packed story with numerous villains vs Silver Sable and Spiderman.
The villains include Sinister Syndicate (Hydroman, Speed Demon,  Beetle,  Boomerang,  and Rhino) the Hobgoblin (Roderick Kinglsey), The Rose, and  Jack O'Lantern.  Unclear the interest here. Deep Cheap Play only

Issue 285 has the Punisher and Spiderman in the Gang War Part 2. Punisher always adds value to the issue. I would include in my Punisher Investment Portfolio as well. Great cover of the Punisher as well as the luster of this issue. Might be a stronger deep play.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chart 2 contains deeper data for each issue. The good tiebreaker in here such at the %DF metric.

Note that Issue 301 has a nice BIAS number 53 skewed at 9.4 grades. Could be the strongest play of the bunch. That bias measures the insider's strength of value vs average collectors. Grab 301 cheap while 300 is being focused on?

Note gambles at 271, 275, 281, 285, 298, 308 based on positive Bias Scores.
